Defogging
First, there are several reasons why a window fogs up after a certain number of years.
The sun creates pressure by heating up the window in the daytime, and when night falls, the process is reversed due to the cooler temperatures. This causes what is referred to as a pumping action. After several years, the seal on the window is broken and moisture seeps in, fogging up the window between the two thermal panes. |
Why does your window need to be defogged as quickly as possible?
When a window fogs up, it no longer has an R-value insulation rating. A thermal insulation window derives its thermal pane value from a 95% dry air space. |
